What Causes Nose Bleed Followed By Vomiting In A Child?

My son just got done having nose bleed and than he pooped. I checked his pull-up to see that he had diarrhea like poop with a bunch of small oily bead type things. Please any answers will help. I am seriously panicing right now. I read online that a cause of this is Cystic Fibrosis. Both his father and I are carriers.

Hello,

Cystic fibrosis can cause diarrhea but it is not the only cause of the diarrhea especially if this is not a chronic problem in your son. If your son has rare episodes of diarrhea and is growing well then very likely this is not due to cystic fibrosis. Also children with cystic fibrosis are expected to have lung problems and chronic lung infections.

If your child has none of the above (no regular diarrhea, he is growing well and lung infections or problems)very likely he does not have cystic fibrosis.
On the other hand it is best to have him checked by your doctor to monitor his growth and make sure he is healthy.
It is important to keep him well hydrated especially if he is continuing with the diarrhea, oral rehydration solutions that can be taken over the counter in pharmacy can substitute water and salt loss and are recommended.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
