Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What can nosebleed be a symptom of? Never happened before, bp 124 over 64, having a relaxing day with A few family members, no stress. Slight headache between and over eyes. Feet up and ice on back of neck, stopped in a very few minutes. Female, aged 75.
Nose bleed occurs due to mucosal injury inside the nose at the region called 'little's area.' This area is known to bleed whenever there is infection or dryness is present, which makes the blood vessels fragile. In such circumstances, if you are in a habit of nose picking, you might injure blood vessels. In such an episode, kindly pinch your nose for about 5 minutes and bend forward while breathing through mouth.
You can prevent such bleeding by keeping your nose moist and preventing nose picking. If the bleeding occurs repeatedly, then it needs to be evaluated and treated. Kindly consult ENT specialist in such an episode for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ashakiran S
