I am a 60 year old female, 5 5 , 190 pounds and have experienced nose bleeds periodically over the past 3 years. I went to an ENT and had a cauterization with silver nitrate done on 2 visits, each a year apart. The nose bleeds typically happen in the winter, when the air is dry. They can happen when I laugh, cry, or when doing nothing. Again, this year, I went to the same ENT and he prescribed an ointment for me to put in my nostril and an antibiotic to take. He wanted to see me in a month, and I went back and he removed the scab and cauterized it again. Less than 48 hours after that procedure, I was talking to my husband and laughing, and the bleeding started again. It was my thinking that if the cauterization worked, my nose wouldn t bleed. Please advise.
