What Causes Nose Bleeds While Suffering From Cold And Sneezing?

Hello, thanks in advance for your help. I am worried because I started smelling blood in my nose. First time that has ever happened before. My husband came home from worked, kissed me and noticed it right away. I have had a cold for five days now, and have been very congested and sneezing a lot. I do not see any trace of blood in my mums though. Any ideas?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain blood smell in nose while having sever cold and sneezing is not a sign of something very serious as when there is severe cold and excessive sneezing there can be inflammation inside the nose over the nasal mucosa as well as there can be slight bleeding due to trauma caused due to vigorous sneezing..
Nothing to worry as it will get resolved soon as the cold and congestion will subside..
You can start taking decongestants like Pseudoephadrine and nasal decongestants containing Xylometazoline..
You can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine..
You can do steam inhalations and warm saline gargles..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Motrin..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Do saline nasal irrigations and take ample of warm fluids..
In case of no resolution in 4 to 5 days consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..
