What Causes Nose Discoloration And Raised Skin?

My husband is 58 yrs old and has developed a small area almost the size of a dime on the end of his nose that is noticably blueish in color and a bit raised. His daughter noticed it several months ago and brought it to my attention. He has a hx HBP and has sleep apnea. Any ideas what it might be?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The most common causes are as follows:
- Basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma since it is present for such a long time
- Other skin condition due to allergy
- Exposure to the sun
- seborrhoic dermatitis

Hence I would advise you to consult a dermatologist urgently. Biopsy if needed. Further management as per the cause found for which dermatologist is the best specialist to be contacted. Do not try anything at home

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
