What Causes Numbness And Bruising On Shin Radiating To Foot And Ankle?
I was hit in the shin by a line drive in softball. It swelled immediately! I iced it 3 times a day for 2 days. The swelling went down (just a small bump on my shin). The entire area is bruised and now the bruise has traveled down to my foot/ankle and the side of my foot and my heel are now getting numb. Should I be worried? What can I do to help it? Sue

Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having massive hematoma at the time of hitting and now it gravitated down on ankle and lower part of foot.
Apply ice pack on the part 2-3 times a day for few days.
Raise foot end.
If there is pain and induration develops on the part, go for one antibiotic medicine course.
If there is collection of blood is more then some times it erquires aspiration of blood with wide bore needle.
Ok and take care.
