What Causes Numbness And Burning Sensation In The Tongue?

I have noticed in the past week a bright red tip of my tongue that feels like a burn but I didn't burn it. It feels numb. I thought it was a new tooth paste but no change since I switched it. I have also experienced cankers on my tongue more than usual. I am a female age 55

Hi..
Thanks for the query..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
It looks like you have an inflammation inside mouth leading to red tip of tongue, increased evidence of canker sores and burnt and numb feeling of tongue..It is pointing towards the condition Apthous Stomatitis. It can be due to causes that can commonly cause this problem like deficiency or Iron or Vitamin B12 or both, allergic reaction, dry mouth, acid reflux etc.So my suggestion to you is to first of all get ruled out for the exact cause of the symptoms.Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. As of now you can take a soft diet and also avoid spicy foods.Do soda bicarb gargles.
Take Vitamin B complex daily.Taking lysine supplements are also helpful as it is an amino acid.

Hope your query is resolved..

Regards.
