What Causes Numbness And Nerve Damage Below Right Knee In A Diabetic?

Yes, I am a 65 year old Type 2 diabetic male. I recently began an exercise program and now after a month I have numbness and nerve damage below my right knee. I am assuming a link between my exercising and the nerve damage. Am I jumping to a conclusion too quickly?
