What Causes Numbness And Pain In The Thumb After A Wrist Surgery?

I have been taking Advil a couple of times a day for wrist surgery. Since I have started to move fingers and wrists since split and stitches removal, my arthritic, numb thumb has been hurting more. Can i take a hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325 TB, prescribed after surgery 3 wks ago that I have only taken once, day after surgery. I did take this medicine while in hospital 2 days.
