Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a small piece of my upper lip in the exact center that is numb and keeps cracking/peeling. I thought it was a cold sore at first but it isn t like any cold sore I ve had before. There is also now a spot on my lower lip, off to the side, that the skin keeps peeling off of. The bottom spot is not numb, just the top spot. I ve tried lip balms, cold sore treatments, neosporin and nothing seems to be helping. What could it be?
The most probable cause of condition you describe in your query is chapped lip ,which occur due to licking ,biting and sucking of lips .By doing this we often remove the natural covering of the skin which causes problem .
Nutritional deficiency sometimes become additional factor which further make it worse .i would like to suggest you to stop licking your lips as it is natural tendency of some people , drink lots of water , use mild steroid cream ,maintain personal hygiene and for nutritional deficiency add lots of green vegetables and fruits to your diet .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
