What Causes Numbness And Stiffness In The Foot While Sitting?

Sometimes after sitting in recliner the bottom of one of my feet are like numb and toes stiffen up. It can be either foot. Doesn t happen everyday but strange. I m 70. But not diabetic. Had blood work 5 months ago. Glucose was 82. Had it in dr office as well as Life Line Screening which was in neighborhood. It s not a tingle anyway, it s like a numbing and when I sit up and put my feet down its as if the blood flow helps it. Sounds crazy, but can t figure out. Since I m overweight I thought of the diabetic reason but figured I just need to get up more and more. Thanks Elizabeth

Hello,

In the seated position, blood supply may reduce to distal nerves lead to tingling and numbness.

Compression of the popliteal nerve may lead to tingling and numbness.

Maybe age-related. use methylcobalamin tablets if necessary.

If symptoms not improved please consult your neuro physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
