What Causes Numbness And Swelling Of Feet With History Of Elevated BP?

My son-in-law just went to urgent care because of numbness in feet and they were also swollen. He was also light-headed. he is 45-years old and over-weight. he was weighed maybe a week or so ago and has gained over 10 pounds in that time, maybe all water. they did ekg and x-ray and sent him to emergency at hospital for more tests. he has high pressure also. Is it heart, stroke or what?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
We do not know until all his tests have been finished. His kidneys might be involved which can cause swelling or edema of the feet. His heart might be doing well also. If his high blood pressure is uncontolled three systems can be affected --the kidneys, the heary and the brain.
