What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In Leg Post Breast Implant Surgery?

On 6/11/2015, I flew on a flight of 2 1/2 hours long. That night I awoke with a terrible charley horse. I thought this was strange since I did not have one for many years. On 6/25/2015, I had a surgical procedure to replace a ruptured 22 year-old left breast implant. It was necessary to do liposuction to surround the new implant with fat from my abdomen and place a mesh to keep the implant in place. A few days after surgery, I noticed that my right leg was numb and tingly. As of today, 7/18/2015, it remains the same. I am not sure what has caused this. I have an appointment with my primary on 7/27. Am I in trouble???

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, post operative issue of numbness and tingling in leg does indicate vascular problem. The deep vein thrombosis of the lower limb must be evaluated with Doppler lower limb to assess the arterial and venous flow.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
