What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Hands And Feet?

I have periodic numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. When I wake up each morning, both hands feel like they have fallen asleep and the joints of my fingers are very stiff. I get some relief if I crack my knuckles multiple times and stretch my fingers. If I rest my arms in one position for very long, the same thing happens. If I rest my legs in one position, or cross my legs, I get the numbness and tingling in my feet and lower legs. This started a couple of months ago. Any thoughts as to what this is or what I can do?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have numbness and tingling sensation in the hands and feet. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like abnormal levels of vitamin B12 or other vitamins, potassium, calcium, or sodium , poor blood supply to the affected area , herniated disk in your spine , pressure on your nerves diabetes or transient ischemic attack or cervical problem . Stress , anxiety and other psychological problems can also cause such symptoms . I would suggest you to put your hand in hot water tun with epsom salt for 15 minutes daily , drink plenty if water and do light exercise . If condition doesn't get well then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination rule out any psychological problem and treatment . Doctor may recommend physical therapy along with vitamin supplement . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist. Stay relax , do meditation and stretching of muscles.
