Hello,
I'm sorry to hear your daughter has been feeling strange lately, and that she has been going through a stressful time. Anytime there is
chest discomfort, we of course always think about the heart and the possibility of a
heart attack. However, at the age of 34, any problems with the heart would be rare, and especially if she has had the discomfort constantly for 24 hours, it would not likely be a heart attack. Giving
aspirin is prudent, but with her other symptoms, I have seen many patients whom I have diagnosed with
anxiety who present this way.
I would recommend she see her doctor tomorrow, make sure there is nothing else going on, and if it does appear to be anxiety, perhaps her doctor can do something to help her with this. Ultimately it may help for her to talk to a counselor or someone trained in helping people going through hard situations like hers.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
