What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Right Hand?

HI, I have been experiencing numbness and tingling in my right hand, elbow and shoulder for two weeks. I can not lay on my right side without experiencing severe pain under my right arm and in my right lats. It is getting worse daily. NO impact injury or new extreme exercise routine. Full mobility moving my head left, slight discomfort moving far right. Chiropractor failed to fix it or give any relief. Lack of strength and sensation in right hand by 50 %. History of stroke in 08 but no visual difficulties, tongue is straight, no palsey, no headaches doesnt feel like stroke. No right leg weakness or mental difficulties. Cant sleep due to discomfort, getting crabby. Toridol and ibuprofin not helping. please advise. thank you.

Hi,

I got your chief complaint. There can be several reasons for this:
- As your history suggests a stroke event.
- Due to blood pressure which can compress nerves supplying to the body.
- Due to the possibility of growing neoplastic tissue in the brain.
- Infections and trauma can also cause.
- Vitamin deficiency.

These factors can cause compression of nerves or damage to nerves which can result in loss of sensations and pain in any part of the body as the right hand, elbow and shoulder in your case.

I suggest you get an appointment with a neurologist and get yourself properly examined. You may require the necessary tests and accordingly, your problem will be addressed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
