What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Thigh?

I have been experiencing partial numbness, and tingling in my outer right thigh for the past couple of days. I have never experienced this before, but have sought treatment for back pain. I was told after an x ray last year that my L5 vertebra was degenerating, and was very thin. Could this be causing the sensations in my thigh.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Numbness and tingling are usually related to neuropathy which refers to abnormal function of the nerves.

This can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes, in your case, the changes to your spine could definitely be the cause for you.

Physiotherapy combined with medications for neuropathy may help. Medications include gabapentin, lyrica, tegretol, amitriptyline.

Some of the other causes include:(1) abnormal levels of vitamin b6
(2)diabetes
(3)low levels of vitamin b12 or folate
(4)side effect of medication
(5)liver or kidney disease
(6)thyroid disease
(7)exposure to toxins

I hope this helps
