What Causes Numbness And Weightless Feeling In Legs And Limbs?
I feel my legs have no life when i go to sleep sometimes.I feel as if there is no blood flowing to my limbs. Then i need to sit in a squat or put something really heavy to do away with this lifeless feeling in my legs.My mom has this problem too. She keeps banging her legs on the bed throughout the the night. Why is this happening to us?We eat well, are slightly over weight. My mom is anaemic but i am not.
Hi From the history provided you are most likely suffering from peripheral vascular disease within your legs. What this simply means is that the blood vessels within your legs are damaged and the blood is finding it difficult to flow. This is depriving your muscles of nutrients and adequate oxygenation....hence you have that feeling of numbness. Your mother places her leg outside so that it is lower than the rest of the body in an attempt to increase the blood flow to the legs by using gravity. There are numerous causes for peripheral vascular disease such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and smoking. You should consult with your doctor so that he can perform a doppler scan of your leg to determine the level and extent of the problem. Using surgical stockings and exercising might improve your symptoms. Please also remember to inspect your feet often as you are more prone to infections and ulcers of the feet.
