What Causes Numbness In Arm And Leg While Suffering From Thoracic Meningocele?

I have a 10 year old niece with a true thoracic meningocele. It has grown in size this past year and now has some of the cord pulled into it. she is experiencing numbness in her hands, arm and leg. ALSO! she is the only person on record to have a totally dislocated spine and still walks! She has had surgery to decompress and stabilize the spine at Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia. We are trying to located a neurosurgeon that may be able to help!

Hello,

The meningocele pausing numbness in the arms and legs indicate underlying cord compression and needs a neurosurgical intervention. Without surgery, there would be further damage to the cord structures and there will be more of motor and sensory function problems, including balance disorders, sensation deficiency issues. Kindly get a latest MRI report of the spine and get consulting with expert neuro surgeon at earliest for best results .

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
