What Causes Numbness In Arms Along With Pain In Chest?

Hello I am 28, I went to the er back in the fall with sharp pain in my chest, shooting pain in my neck the front, and numbness in both arms. They did blood work, ekg, and chest xray. Everything normal. They didn t really say but seemed to say anxiety. Because I lost my daddy back in January of 15. Well a couple weeks went by and I felt better. Now about a week ago I am getting numbness in arms. Dull pain in my upper chest back in between my shoulder blades. My neck has pain but more like a full feeling. Seems to get worse when I eat. I can t say it s horribly painful, but just feels like something isn t right. I do have a doctors appointment in about a month, but wonder if that s soon enough.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Anxiety can lead to symptoms of chest pain and numbness of arms.
However, it is important to rule out other causes of chest pain and numbness of arms especially cardiac cause.
I suggest you to consult a cardiologist for clinical assessment of cardiovascular system.
Ischemic heart disease is a group of cardiac diseases which can affect any age group.
Clinical assessment coupled with basic investigations like ECG, echocardiography, stress test are some of the investigations required to look for and to diagnose cardiac ailments.
Thus, consult a cardiologist at the earliest.
If no cardiac problem is detected, other causes of chest pain also need to be ruled out like musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory disorders, etc.
Numbness of arms can be due to disorders of nerves like compression of nerves.
Compression of nerves is caused by spondylitis of the cervical spine.
Thus you need to consult a physician for neck pain.

Thanks and take care
