What Causes Numbness In Ear?

I currently have an ear infection and possibly a ruptured or torn eardrum. I have no pain or very little, can somewhat make out what someone says to me though it s muffled and distorted and sometimes have a loud humming or rushing air noise in my ear. But my question is why does it feel numb or like I have folded the lobe into the ear itself permanently? (Best way to explain it) And is this a concern that maybe I should see a doctor because something more is wrong?

Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
The cause of feeling of numbness in the ear can be due to the inability of the eardrum to have movements due to the presence of pus, edema and so on. Since the ear drum is not moving you will feel the numbness.
Yes, you should see an ENT Surgeon to get an appropriate diagnosis, investigations and treatment.
You need a course of an antibiotic, decongestant and anti-inflammatory medicines.
This may take about 3 weeks for the problems to settle so do not be in haste.
