What Causes Numbness In Face With Constant Watering Of Eyes?

my roommate is a 22 year old male. he says he has paralysis of the left side of his face, mouth and eyelid are drooping, eye constantly waters, right side of his face seems to be unaffected. it happened over the course of 24 hours, he says he has/had flu like symptoms a couple days before.
