What Causes Numbness In Fingers?

Especially when lying in bed, I have been experiencing numbness and bad burning intermittenly in all my fingers on my right hand, and sometimes my left, except my pinky. It has been going on for about 2 months. I have had well controlled Type 2 diabetes for a year. Could that be the cause?
