What Causes Numbness In Left Eat?

I was taking a shower this morning and realized my left outer ear felt numb. I did not sleep bad or have a sore neck and I have not been sick lately. I m 38 and otherwise healthy. It has now been somewhat numb all day without much change. It also feels slightly numb on my neck just behind my left ear. I m worried this could be a sign of a stroke.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of numbness of left ear and just behind it after a shower and worried about a possibility of stroke.
First of all this is not the symptom of a stroke so nothing to worry about if there are no other symptoms like weakness of one side of face and body, normal speech and taste.
Secondly there may be a compression of the locally supplying cutaneous nerve and this would get okay soon
But it is necessary to see for other causes like Herpes and so on.
Hence meet your Doctor and be assured.
Or get investigated if advised so.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
