What Causes Numbness In My Arm Along With Weakness?

My arm feels dead, not associated with any pain just cant put my hand in a fist and cant lift it up, I have recently been feeling really down and not ill but not a hundred percent, like my body just doesn't want to function, am i just being silly or is there an answer to it other than you have probably just slept funny??
