Hello,

You have not mentioned which antibiotic you took for sinus infection. You have developed a long, white, numb, swollen area on the roof of your mouth. You should get clinically examined by an ENT or a dentist. Numbness can be indicative of tumor growth, developing neuropathy, circulatory abnormalities, etc. Get treated your sinus infection, if needed you can take steam inhalation to feel better. Taking decongestants may help. If numbness is due to inflammation or soreness of the nasal passages, it will get reduced when the sinus problem is treated.

Take care of your dental and oral hygiene. Rinse your mouth and gargle your throat with warm salt water three times a day. Brush your teeth and clean your tongue after every meal. Avoid taking food that is too hot or too cold as it may further affect the numbness you are experiencing. Avoid fiddling the numb area with your tongue. Prefer to eat semi solid food, avoid taking food that may hurt your mouth or the roof of your mouth. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
