What Causes Numbness In The Breasts After A Coronary Bypass Surgery?

Hello. I had Da Vinci robotic coronary bypass surgery in April, at which time they harvested my left mammory artery. How long will my breast be numb and tender? I ve also had back discomfort on my left side for about 2 weeks now. I had an ultrasound yesterday of my abdomen and pelvis area and the only thing that showed was 2 fibroids on my uterus. I m currently taking Lipitor.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The only problem with taking mammary artery for the graft is that it can leave the area numb, this is not something odd it happen with it, and may be permanent.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
