What Causes Numbness In The Cheekbones While Suffering From Bell S Palsy?
I was daignosed three years ago with mild Bell s Palsy. It lasted about three weeks. Now I have the same symptoms again: inability to fully open my right eye at times, twitching of upper and lower lids couples with numbness and burning acros the cheekbone. Can Bell s recur? (Last time I had a facial EMG, CT scans, eye exam and other tests done.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of numbness in the cheekbones while suffering from Bell's Palsy which is due to inflammation or viral infiltration of the nerve that can cause infection of the facial nerve that is a seventh cranial nerve and supplies muscles of face. Yes Bell's palsy can occur due to activation of virus which remains latent.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Maintain hygiene and and apply cold compresses every 4 hourly alternative with warm compresses.
- Do mouth stretching exercises such as blow in and out after closing nostrils.
You should consult ortho and maxillofacial surgeon once for proper examination and start with proper course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications and vitamin supplement.
