Hi,
Thanks for your question,
The ear ringing and
facial numbness may be unrelated. In my elderly patients, ear ringing called tinnitus is usually a sign of age-related
hearing loss. However, the following conditions need to be excluded; ear
bone disease, tumor of the nerve involved in hearing, and use of certain medications including antidepressants and cancer medications. A visit to your
primary care doctor for a referral to an Ear/Nose/throat surgeon is necessary for this
Having excluded MS, other causes of facial numbness should be excluded, these include injury to the nerves supply on the face, stroke, and brain tumors. I advise you visit a
neurologist, a dovtor who treats diseases of the brain and nerves with drugs, the neurologist may refer you to a neurosurgeon, if necessary.
I hope I have answered your question.
Best wishes.
