What Causes Numbness In The Feet When Diagnosed With Degenerative Disc Disease?

Hello.. i was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease almost 15 years ago. I have had several surgeries since. Lately, I have been experiencing weakness in my legs, more numbness in my feet and have ran into walls, door frames and such, fallen several times and run into tables, cupboards, everything.. My mom passed away several years ago from a disease I can t remember the name of but it too effected her muscles, she was unable to use her hands in the end. She too was always very dizzy and in the end could not swallow. Please send me in some kind of direction.. Thank you for your time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Problems with the discs may press on the nerve and cause numbness down the leg.

On the other hand, it is always best to have a check with your doctor and have a neurological exam to make sure the nerve is not damaged or that there are not other causes for the numbness other than problems with the disc.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
