Morning I ve have chemo treatment for 6 months. It left me with feet and hands numbness. My doctor gave me this gabapendine to treat this. I m on 1200 mg a day. 600 in the morning and 600 before bed. Hands and feet are coming along but after being off chemo treatment for going on 8 months is there anything else that can be taken besides this.,?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have probably suffered by chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy. This is reported sometimes after chemotherapy. Your doctor has correctly advised gabapentin. An alternative medicine is pregabalin- but both need not be started simultaneously. In addition to the above medicine, I would recommend adding Methylcobalamin and physiotherapy (if there is weakness) and nerve stimulation. So you can discuss these options with your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
