What Causes Numbness In The Right Thigh While Suffering From Diabetes?
hi im 52 years old and had quadruple heart bypass in 2012. they had to take my artery from my calf cause my thighs arteries werent good enough I have severe numbness in my left thigh and moderate numbness in my right thigh i was recently diagnosed with diabetes so am on lantus pen and 50 units of insulin per day - also take invokana, Now when I sit down my feet turn purple but when I walk around they re not purple but I do have pain in my legs mostly left side. I am a big working out person and get lotsa exercise til my heart attack and never got my energy back but now I have bursitis on my left side and have had back problems for years, but saw a chiro for that and it helped with my exercse tremendously. I have sciatica on my left side along with the bursitis for which I am going to physical therapy to help get rid of the inflammation. And now I have the purple feet problem. My dr I just saw thinks I may have a blockage in my leg or legs. I have to see a vascular surgeon for this she said. How complicated are these types of surgeries if you have to have them and what is the recoup time? Could there be any other reason my my limbs are numb and turning purple and hurt?
The numbness is related to neurologic effects of particular nerve endings. The purple color changes relate compromised blood supply and requires an evaluation with Doppler examination of the lower limbs. Strict sugar control is very vital part of the case management.
