What Causes Numbness In The Right Thumb?

I noticed today that I am starting to lose sensation in my right thumb. I have never had issues with nerves or circulation. There is no pain and I don t wear any rings, bracelets, or similar things on my right side. Do you know what could be causing this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There are two possibilities considering your symptoms 1. Nerve involvement at the level of wrist commonly known as carpal tunnel 2. vascular involvement with decreased blood supply.
You need detailed clinical Examination to confirm a diagnosis. Tests required are 1. NCV study of left upper limb 2. Doppler study of vessels at wrist.
please get it done from radiology center nearby you.
Visit to hand specialist is highly recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
