What Causes Numbness In The Thighs While Suffering From Hypertension?
I am almost 60 and have hypertension which is controlled by medication. I find when I walk and stand a lot, like shopping, or sometimes walking my dogs, the skin on the front of my thighs goes numb. I am pre-diabetic but have never been diagnosed as diabetic. I m on a low carb diet, but i am concerned this is some type of diabetic nerve issue. When I get home and sit or get back in my car the feeling dissipates rapidly and doesn t come back. It may reoccur if I do the same type of thing again, but otherwise I am fine most of the time.
Since you are having numbness and tingling and sharp pain in your left thigh u need to do electromyography and a nerve biopsy test to determine if your pain is caused by muscle damage or nerve damage.

What Causes Numbness In The Thighs While Suffering From Hypertension?
Hi, Since you are having numbness and tingling and sharp pain in your left thigh u need to do electromyography and a nerve biopsy test to determine if your pain is caused by muscle damage or nerve damage. Magnetic resonance imaging (M.R.I) of left thigh and back is also recommended. You can reduce the sharp pain in your left thigh by having nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. If the pain still persist then you can apply lidocaine patch. This patch contains the topical anesthetic Xylocaine. You apply it to the area where your pain is most severe, and you can use up to four patches a day to relieve pain. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
