What Causes Numbness In The Tongue After Gallbladder Surgery?

I Had Gallbladder Surgery Almost A Week Ago And I've Had Numb Feeling On The Tip Of My Tongue. I Told The Doctors And They Said It Will Go Away In A Couple Of Days, Yet I'm Still Feeling It. My Incisions Also Have Been Having Slight Bleeding Coming From It Here And There. Can Someone Help Me?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for query . Numbness means involvement of nerve due to certain medication taken after surgery. The most probable reason for your tongue numbness is compression on nerve due to intubation during surgery .

This procedure sometimes leads to compression or injury of facial nerve which cause numbness of tongue . there is no need to panic.

I would suggest you to start taking vitamin B12 supplement , which is very effective in curing tongue numbness caused by nerve disorder. Also dring ginger tea twice daily.

Consult oral surgeon or neurosurgeon for proper diagnosis and to rule out other causes like hypothyroidism or burning mouth syndrome and treat it accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
