Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Roughly 3 years ago I noticed a numbness / tingling spot on the lateral portion of my left upper leg. The numbness came and went so I disregarded it. The spot was about the size of a baseball, but over the years the numbness / tingling has increased in severity and size. It is numb all the time now, sharp needle sensations, and some burning which leads me to believe its nerves. Also it seems to be the whole length of my IT band. There has been no changes in my everyday activity and no injuries. No medications, no previous surgeries, or medical / health issues. Former smoker of 10 years. Smoked half a pack a day, and now smoke roughly 1 pack per month. I am 30 years old and somewhat active.
Hi have you had a test for vitamin B-12, X-ray of lumbosacral spine? Also get the local spot examined/biopsied if needed. It could be B-12 deficiency, sciatica, or a local problem--regards
