What Causes Numbness In Wrist Area?

I have numbness at the base of my palm, near my wrist. It quite a small localized area. I got it after doing an arm wrestle for fun yesterday with a friend in the pub. I got the numbness immediately after the arm wrestle. I still have it today. Will it go away?
