What Causes Numbness Of The Thigh Post A Laminectomy?

I had l5-s1 discarding and laminectomy. Now I have significant bulge of l1-l2 .I've tried NSAIDs and pain meds and in my sixth week of pt w no relief. I've got pain thAt goes to numbness in my anterior and lateral left thigh. Is this from prior surgery or from new herniation?
