What Causes Numbness On The Bottom Lip?

On Sunday I woke with the left half of my bottom lip numb (similar to when you leave the dentist) it did spread to my upper lip and cheek for a bit but by bed time it was gone. Yesterday no symptoms. Today it has returned in the same locations. No drooping, headache, all limbs work, speech and chewing are ok.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your lip issues.

As you said the numb lip was first only really to lower lip than upper one was also involved. Either it will be related to viral infection but it must be associated with fever too. Or it is transient nerve compression.

If the situation gets more worse or you feel continuous numbness you may need to take steroid course but only after consulting with your general physician.

You may also need to have a CT scan of head to be done for proper diagnosis.

Hope the answer to your query write us back if you feel any further assistance needed.

Regards
Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
