What Causes Numbness On The Left Side Upon Lying Down?

My dad has a pacemaker defibilator inplanted and when he lays on his left side he is telling me he goes numb and can not speak . he just got released from the hospital about a week ago and ran tests and said his potassium was very low and that he had renal failure. we went to the regular md blood pressure was good and no complaints . please advise e mail denine YYYY@YYYY
