What Causes Numbness On The Leg After A Back Surgery?

I had back surgery last Aug. I had 4 disks fused, 2 rods and 3 spacers inserted. I now have numbness in the top half I d my right leg, but what I have a question about is the nerve pain jabs I get in my thighs when I lay down. I have taken gabapentin for a number of years for my arthritis (osteo)? Any ideas how I could help myself with the nerve pain? I can t sleep until it settles down which takes about 2 hours if I m lucky. I am not on gabapentin now.

Hello,

The back surgery would usually be for a particular nerve in the back being pinched. This nerve runs in the direction, you are describing and problems with it before, after, or from the surgery would give pain in this location. Gabapentin is a nerve damping drug that is, generally, quite safe and often helpful.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
