What Causes Numbness On The Lips After Receiving A Cortisone Shot?

I am allergic to acetametaphin. Yesterday I had cortisone injections in my knees and I believe they used a lidocaine spray to numb my knees. I am experiencing a redness in my face, numb tingley feeling in my lips. My eyes feel dry and so I feel like I m not seeing clearly. And I have a dull headache. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

These are common side effects of the cortisone shots in knees. They should be settled in a couple of days.

Should stay well hydrated, do not move around too much. Monitor blood pressure and record the results.

Take antihistamine medication. If swelling would get worse should go to ER as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
