What Causes Numbness On The Outer Thighs?

Hello Doc. I am 58 years old and in decent health generally. I have been having numbness on outer thighs. When I rub them, I feel tingling sensation and numbness. It is only on that part of the thighs where my hands would rest, if I were sitting down.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be due to pinching of the nerve supplying outer part of thigh... at spinal or pelvic level.

Please consult an orthopedic doctor for more specific management (vitamin B12 supplement/anti-inflammatory pills/physiotherapy or surgery in few cases).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
