What Causes Numbness On The Right Side Of The Tongue?

A few hours ago the right side of my tongue and right half of my lips became numb. I am not allergic to anything that I know of and this has never happened before. The only thing that I ate out of the ordinary was an applesauce that was strawberry flavored. I am not allergic to strawberry or apple though. I also tried cinnamon bun flavored oreos, but I ve never had an issue with cinnamon or oreos before. Because this happened out of the blue it is worrying me. Any insight into why this could be happening would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Cristina

Hello,

Numbness of the right side of tongue and lip can be due to a number of causes like allergic reaction, nerve related problem, vitamin B 12 deficiency while it can also be a sigh of transient ischemic attack. So the symptoms should not be ignored and consult an emergency room and get a proper evaluation done. A blood test can be done and if needed an MRI scan can be done for diagnosis and elimination of causes so that a confirmatory diagnosis can be made.

For now start taking vitamin B complex supplements and do moderate workout along with nutritious diet and proper rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
