Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently had numbness on the side of my right big toe. Now, I usually get ingrown toenails just on my big toe but I always pulled them out so there s no more pain and it won t poke or bother me for quite some time. But now I have sensitive numbness on my big toe. Its so sensitive to touch or rub it. What could this be? And is it from my ingrown toe nail? Or something comepletly different?
As per my clinical experience, the numbness on the toe indicate possible damage to the nerves controlling the sensation of the distal part of great toe. It is the repeated pulling out of the toe nail, which is responsible for the nerve damage and development of sensitivity and numbness over the part.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
