What Causes Occasional Fast Heart Beat After Stopping Celexa?

Just recently, I have been experiencing normal heartbeats and them all of a sudden it starts beating fast a heard. Probably about 3 or 4 beats. Then it goes back to normal. I started experiencing the when I stopped taking my depression medicine (celexa). Could something be wrong?

Dear I can understand your concern .
Celexa contains citalopam that is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor used mainly as antidepressant.
As you have mentioned you experience few fast heartbeat while you skip this drug.if it is always the case then no need to worry. .just continue with the medication as advised by your physician . But if these palpitations occurring at any time then we need to think about few more causes such as
1.Anaemia
2 . hyperthyroidism
3.any rhythm disturbance in heart.
To rule out these causes you should consult your physician and get few work up done such as thyroid profile hemoglobin level and ecg.
Most probably it's your anxiety and depression that is causing it while you stop treatment .
Discuss about this with your physician .
