Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Occasional Vaginal Spotting Post Hysterectomy?
I had a complete hysterectomy almost 7 years ago for endometrial cancer (stage 1b). I have had occasional spotting over the years. Very little. My oncologist/gynecologist has told me it could be from some irritation. My pap smears have always come back good. Today I noticed some more spotting. Not a lot, but more than I have ever seen before. My question is, is this something I should be overly concerned about? Another thing, I m also on Warfin. Could that be cause of this bleeding?
Hello, Thank you for using HCM, If you had total histerectomy very likely you have removed the ovaries also and you are in menopause. In this case the vaginal walls get atrophied (thin) and easily damaged, using Warfin might make the bleeding even easier. This might be the cause of the spotting but due to the history of endocervical cancer you still need to have a vaginal examination (doctor visit) to rule out a mass or wound that might be the cause. Hope this is helpful and answers to your question
