What Causes One Sided Movements In The Face?

my son has a condition with his face which started 5days ago. the problem is that he smiles,cryes and only the left side of his face has movement. i went to the doctor and she told me the problem is that his nerve on the right side is not moving bcz he has a ear and throat infection.
