What Causes One To Stop Breathing After Choking On Food?
I have a grandfather who had chocked on a steak and had stopped breathing time undetermined they say up to 30 min atleast 10 if he was given cpr the whole time and is breathing on hi own what does this mean? right now he is induced coma he hasn t res[ponded to any pain or have a gag reflex

1. Obstruction of the air pipe by food, leads to breathing being affected.
2. He could not breathe as no air could go inside.
3. Due to loss of oxygen, tissue damage, particularly brain might have occurred before he recovered, which made induced coma necessary.
