What Causes Open Sores In The Cheeks With Pus Formation?

On my right cheek I have open sore with raised edges. White, round, small white spots like puss in the middle.
I had this for months, gets little better then again gets worst. Have appt. with Dermatologist this week. What to do before I get to see him. I work and appearance is important, so I cover it with round band aid but liquid will go thru the band aid. I'm out of solutions.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would advice that you keep it open as it seems to be infected and covering it with band aid would prevent drainage of pus and infected secretions.

In such a case i would advice that you apply a topical antibacterial cream like mupirocin twice daily for a week.

An empirical oral antibacterial from the penicillin group, till you come up with the appointment, would help control the infection.

I would have also liked to do a pus culture/sensitivity from the lesion for future specific antibiotic therapy if required.

take care
regards
